Children and young people are a valued part of our congregation around the Benefice and are welcomed at any of our services. There are monthly family services held at Wye and Bodsham and an array of other children’s activities throughout the month.
Many of the activities are based in Wye, for historic and geographic reasons. However, children from around the benefice are encouraged to attend any of the events. Click on the links for more information, times and contact detail.
At Wye Church, in particular, the Sunday club has five different age groups which meet around the church, the Methodist complex and other houses in the village each week (except for Family Services). Choristers are encouraged to join the Sunday Club group for their age range for part of the service. A crèche is provided on Sundays that fall during term time holidays, and for most benefice services, wherever they are held.
Excellent relations are maintained with our local schools. The clergy take regular Assemblies and the schools come to church for services at the major festivals. Our church family includes members of staff and governors – as well as parents and pupils.
Youth initiatives in our benefice are overseen by the Children and Young People’s Working Group (CYPWG) which meets several times during the year and reports back to The Benefice Council and Wye PCC. Work with our children and young people is served by a talented and highly motivated group of volunteers who are greatly appreciated.
All those who work with children and young people or hold positions of responsibility within the church are required to undergo CRB checks.
