Petham has a population of 340 and the easiest access to Canterbury. Many people live in the centre near the village school, village hall, the church and close by on Stone Street. The village also includes the out-lying hamlets of Kenfield and Garlinge Green. The new modern village hall has become the centre of the village with a playgroup, a youth group and many adult study courses and activities. The thriving school opposite the church has 100 pupils
All Saints Petham is a grade 1 listed, 13th century charge which is considerable larger than some of the other churches in the benefice. It has many fine features and is valued by English Heritage for its original wooden field cross from the First World War. The church is beautifully situated in a large churchyard looking south with an ancient yew, large areas of cowslips and 70+ species of lichens.
